A few principles, kept for the long run
Established firms have a house code: a handful of convictions that shape every decision. These are ours.
- 01
There is no secret formula.
Every business is different. Methods that transform one company can harm another. We are wary of fashions, including our own favourites.
- 02
Look first, advise second.
We may know a great deal, but we do not know your business until we have seen it. So we listen, visit and ask before we suggest anything.
- 03
Strengths come first.
Before changing anything, find out what already works and protect it. Often the best move is to do more of what you are good at.
- 04
The right tool, the right size.
Sometimes that is new software or AI; sometimes a better routine, a clearer role or a simple checklist. We are not attached to any particular tool.
- 05
People before systems.
A system only works when the people using it understand it and believe in it. Training and patience are part of every solution.
- 06
Small steps, steadily.
Many small improvements, tested and kept, usually beat one large programme. They are cheaper, safer and easier to change.
- 07
Honesty about uncertainty.
Where we are not sure, we say so. Good decisions rest on evidence, not on confident guesses.
- 08
Integrity without exception.
We work only in ways that are lawful and transparent. There are no shortcuts worth taking.
- 09
Relationships for the long term.
We would rather be trusted advisers for many years than consultants for one project.
